"Made by Madaus" enjoy an outstandingly good
reputation in the international pharmaceutical world
– and have enjoyed that reputation for many years.
More than thirty years ago Madaus began
to establish and expand its own subsidiaries in Europe.
Major acquisitions and participations in Germany and
abroad, as for example the takeover of the pharmaceutical
company Dr. Hetterich and the acquisition of the allergy
expert HAL Allergy, underline the growth-orientated
business policy of the company.
For the active and direct support of
our export business, Madaus maintains its own liaison
offices in many countries. They guarantee qualified
medical and scientific business support adapted to the
conditions existing in different regions, and optimal
representation of the company in its essential contacts
with the authorities.
For many years, Madaus has stabilised
its international business policies by establishing
its own production units in Germany and abroad. Besides
conventional pharmaceutical production at international
level, Madaus also has production sites which specialise
in the manufacture of phytopharmaceutical substances
and preparations. |

The worldwide
market for phytopharmaceuticals is one of the most interesting
business areas within the pharmaceutical market, because
it is the most rapidly expanding. This is shown by its
sustained growth, which arises from the positive attitude
of large parts of the population, together with the
better tolerability of medicines from natural sources.
Beyond the traditionally phyto-friendly
markets of German-speaking countries, major potentials
for natural medicines are to be found at many localities

| Nature and science: |
For many
decades, the philosophy of Madaus AG has been orientated
on the links between nature and science – indeed,
the objectives of the company are defined in terms of
their interaction. To put the matter in concrete terms:
a comprehensive store of knowledge gained from long
experience with natural healing, has been successfully
merged with the results of scientific research extending
over many years.
The activities of the company are primarily
focused on the field of "Natural Prevention".
Madaus AG nowadays makes use of the discoveries which
have arisen from the scientific approach over many decades,
our objects being to produce medicines which are efficient,
economical and safe, while being as gentle in action

| Natural prevention: |
For Madaus,
the term prevention does not mean the therapy of acute
diseases; on the contrary, it means treatment designed
to avoid diseases or prevent from becoming chronic.
The basic principle of "prevention by natural active
principles" has been superseded by the use of natural
substances which are allowed to remain in their natural
environment, with the object of guaranteeing their optimal
utilisation by the body. For Madaus, the term prevention
means defence against disorders of the regulatory mechanisms
of the body by compensatory measures designed to correct
any manifestation of deficiency. |

In the
targeted application of active substance combinations
for Natural Prevention, Madaus consistently makes use
of the metabolic activities of the plant. The plant
has already processed various substances, and now offers
